A company may use BPO because of cost considerations, or simply because they do not have the expertise to deal with certain areas. Many companies have come under criticism for using BPO to cut costs, especially in the call center area. Many of the call centers that companies use are now based in third world countries. They may also be based in slowly developing countries, where the cost to run a business is far lower than in the location of the main company. India, for example, is home to many call centers for businesses around the world.
