Outsourcing BPO to India - The Long Term Benefits
Amidst the mounting furor against outsourcing one has to examine things more objectively. In the short term, cost benefits and value addition may not be apparent because of the initial investment involved in training and infrastructure. Also outcries against migration of jobs seem to cement the argument. However, as the NASSCOM report shows, the long term benefits are very powerful. Not only does outsourcing BPO to India allow global companies to avail of some of the best talent and expertise at competitive rates, but it also allows the company to actually save several jobs, which it might have had to lay off otherwise.

Companies also should realise that the sooner they adapt themselves to the outsourcing phenomenon, the better...it is like this: outsourcing is here to stay, whether one likes it or not...and the developed countries, once they outsource value-value jobs to the developing countries will be forced to move up the value chain and become more mean and lean with time...any company in the developed world that does not do this risks being (a) left with high costs of processes where their competitors have lower costs because of outsourcing, and (b) at the lower end of the value chain since they were not forced to move up.
I am sure no company in the US or UK would want to be in this position 10 years from now...
